The only time they ever held ours was when we were staying in this flat in Manarola and when we steayd in a flat in Florence. For some strange reason I wasn't too worried considering that both landladies spoke hardly any English and our Italian is less than stellar.It makes some sense. In case you go on a killing spree or something I suppose they can track you quickly.
